Individual Grants - Hardship Grants

Guidelines

Each year we set aside £25,000 to support Stonewater Residents who are experiencing short-term hardship or crisis situations.

Eligibility:

In order to apply for Hardship Funding, you will need to meet the following criteria:

  • Reside in a Stonewater property  (evidence will need to be provided that you live permanently at the Stonewater property if your name is not on the Tenancy or License Agreement)
  • Priority Groups:  We only fund individuals from one of the following groups: 
    • Young People (aged 16-25)
    • Older People (over 60)
    • An individual at risk of, or subject to domestic abuse
    • An individual with a physical or mental disability
  • Applicants must be either British Citizens, or have Right to Remain Status
  • Only one application will be allowed per individual in a 12-month period, unless invited to re-apply by the Trustees of the Longleigh Foundation.

Amounts

The maximum you can apply for is £500.  

What we will fund

Grants are aimed at supporting people with short-term problems, or at crisis points in their lives, here are some examples:

  • Sickness resulting in sudden unemployment and short term lack of funds – support may be needed for food vouchers
  • Oven or fridge requiring emergency replacement

References

All applicants for Hardship funding require a reference from a Stonewater member of staff.  This may be a Tenancy Services Officer, Support Worker, Income Officer or Retirement Living Officer.

If you do not know an individual member of staff who can provide you with a reference, please contact the Stonewater Contact Centre in order to find out who may be able to help you. 

Please discuss your application with your referee – you will be asked to give their details in the application process, and we will contact them to find out if they support your application.

Supporting Documentation

You will need to upload important documentation so that we can process your application:

  • If you are a British Citizen, you will need to upload proof of identify.  This can be one of the following:
    • Passport
    • Driving license photocard
    • Birth certificate or adoption certificate
  • If you are not a British Citizen, we will ask for proof of Right to Remain Status:
    • Passport, and  UK Biometric Residence Permit

Payment of Grants

In most instances we make all grant awards in gift cards/vouchers, or by purchasing goods (e.g. oven, washing machine), and have these sent to you direct.

We only give grants via cheque if all other options are unsuitable. You will not be asked to provide any bank account information as part of your application.

On-line application form

We only accept on-line application forms.  You need to register to start your application.  You can save your application at any stage and come back to it in order to finish the process.
